Lessons

Fairland Farms offers private and semi-private lessons either on your horse or one of our experienced school horses. For horses who do not live at Fairland Farms, we welcome you to trailer-in for lessons.

Our program focuses on preparing horses and riders for the sport of 3-Day-Eventing. This includes; Dressage, Show-jumping and Cross-Country Jumping. We offer a very well-rounded horse and rider education, with a strong emphasis placed on correct fundamentals being the key to long-term success. We are very fortunate that our facility lends itself to providing a lot of variety in our lessons with the many riding areas and wide range of jumps available to us. Thus keeping horses and riders attentive whilst having fun learning new things. We also encourage all of our students to compete at shows and participate in clinics and we have a very active show program throughout the year. Shows that we ride at include; Dressage, Show-Jumping, Combined Tests and of course, lots of 3-Day-Eventing at both schooling and sanctioned shows throughout the country.

Notice! - We are currently looking for one or two dedicated riders to join the Fairland Farms eventing team! Please contact Naomi for more information on the exciting opportunities available in our lesson or team program.

Lesson Requirements

- To ensure that our riders get the most out of their lessons and continue to move forward, all students at Fairland Farms are required to take a minimum of one lesson per week in order to be accepted into our riding program.

- Lessons must be paid for on a month-to-month basis with the billing cycle being on the 1st of each month.

- Any cancellations must provide a minimum of 24 hours notice to allow us enough time to fill the slot. Any late cancellations will result in being charged for that lesson. Exceptions to that rule are cancellations as a result of in climate weather, where the road conditions are too poor to drive out to the farm or if there is a thunderstorm. We also understand that emergencies do happen and people can get sick on short notice. Because of this, we will allow three exceptions per year for emergency cancellations on short notice where you will be allowed to schedule a make-up lesson. If you are not available for a make-up lesson then you will forfeit that lesson.

- Beginner lessons are scheduled for a full hour and will include; coaching and assistance on how to safely groom and tack-up the horse for riding, riding instruction in the arena (or sometimes in the field for more advanced beginners) and how to safely un-tack and groom the horse after riding. Our beginner riders should be at the barn and ready to get started by their scheduled lesson time.

- Intermediate and more advanced lessons are scheduled for a 45 minute session. These riders are already comfortable with bringing their horse in from the field, grooming him thoroughly and tacking him up correctly. Students at this level are responsible for arriving at the barn with enough time to have their horse ready to ride and to also be walking the horse out undersaddle for a few minutes prior to their scheduled ride time so they are already partially warmed-up.

We are making a conscious effort to keep our online schedule as up-to-date as possible with current lesson times and other important dates. Please check the calendar regularly to double-check your lesson times and please notify Naomi if you see any inaccuracies that require updating.

Fairland Farms reserves the right to cancel or reschedule lessons in the event of dangerous weather such as, extreme heat or cold, tornado warning, etc. or instructor’s discretion. Instructor will notify students as early as possible if this occurs. If you are unsure, please contact your instructor.

Fees

Beginner lessons - $217 per month (one lesson per week)

Intermediate & Advanced lessons - $196 per month (one lesson per week)
